FriGay’s Favorite Movies: FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL!

FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL is the story of a group of friends in England experiencing life after university. Their summers are filled with weddings, so much so they often don’t even remember which is which! It’s all fun and games for Charles (Hugh Grant) until he meets an American named Carrie (Andie McDowell) at (you guessed it!) a wedding. Meeting Carrie suddenly makes Charles wonder why he’s always going to weddings, but never getting married himself! Is it a fear of commitment? Is it just meeting the wrong girl, over and over again? 4W&AF takes us through love and loss, in a very early-90s England, and reminds viewers that only they can define what love and marriage look like to themselves, and that they should be entirely authentic about it.

Horror Hookup: Author and Historian Adam Selzer!

In our special HORROR HOOKUP series, we’re so glad to bring you a new episode with Chicago’s own ADAM SELZER!

Adam Selzer, Author Who Does All Kinds of Neat Stuff, is an author and historian that has spent over a decade running hundreds of tours per year for companies such as Chicago Hauntings, Shoreline Sightseeing, and Weird Chicago. Early in his career, he began fact-checking the stories commonly told on such tours and found that they were a mess! With painstaking research, he rebuilt the stories he was telling from the ground up, spending hours poring through reels of microfilm, piles of paper from the legal archives, and drawers full of long-forgotten photos and documents. This gave him material to make his tours at Mysterious Chicago different from any others. With years of practice, his tours are the most entertaining in town, often showcasing the humor that he used in his acclaimed novels for Random House and Simon and Schuster, including JUST KILL ME, PLAY ME BACKWARDS, and the cult favorite I KISSED A ZOMBIE AND I LIKED IT.

He is the author of several more books, of course the Mysterious Chicago book, released in 2016 by Sky Horse, who also published his mammoth HH HOLMES: THE TRUE HISTORY OF THE WHITE CITY DEVIL.

He regularly appears on TV shows, including American Ripper (four episodes), Mysteries at the Museum (five episodes), Haunted History, Monumental Mysteries, Hotel Secrets and Legends, Dark Places, and more.

Listen in on our FABULOUS interview with Adam NOW:

HORROR IN MEDIA
A perfect follow up to our Horror In Real Life segment is the 1993 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel NEEDFUL THINGS. With Max von Sydow and Ed Harris, this film waffles a whole lot… but it doesn’t give our hosts the sort of delicious waffle they’d like.

2015’s KRAMPUS, with Adam Scott and Toni Collette, is the perfect alternative Christmas film YOU should watch with YOUR family this year. And damn… wouldn’t it be great if Krampus REALLY came to America to punish some bad adults we all know?
